The combined effort of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra.
The journey of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra for uplifting the educational status of Muslim and dalit girls crosses a milestone and other 138 new faces has accompanied us in our journey this year and we are moving ahead towards our objective of providing quality education to muslim and dalit girls.

For the year 2008-2009 138 girls (104 from class VI and 34 from Class IX) are selected under Vidya Gyan Scholarship programme. The Scholarship distribution ceremony was organized on 11 th December 2008 at Aditya Narayan Publice school cholapur.

  • Mr Ram Palat Ram (B.D.O) Cholapur was the Chief Guest of the programme.

  • Ms Chamela Devi Pradhan (Dharsuna),

  • Ms Gulab Singh (Ex Pradhan Cholapur),

  • Mr Satyanaryan Yadav (representative of Pradhan Bhawanipur) ,

  • Mr Anil Kr Yadav Pradhan (Murali) and

  • Ms Satyabhama Principal Deep Raj Public School Katari were also shard dais with the chief Guest.

The programme was formally started with the prayer of Goddess Sarswati “Hey Sharde Maa…” presented by girls enrolled in this scholarship programme last year.Then after Mr Sudhir Singh gave a brief introduction of SSK and Vidya Gyan Scholarship programme running in cholapur block from last one year and then invited Mr Ram Palat Ram honorable chief guest to inaugurate the programme by lightening the lamp. Girls of Class Xth presented the welcome song then after Chief guest was invited to address the mass. Mr Ram in his address, praised the effort of SSK in promoting Girls Education in cholapur block .At the same he also stressed on the issue of importance of girls education and appeal the mass for educating their girl ward for her shining future.

Ms Soni a Member of Kishori Group shared her experiences in which she shared the activities running in their Kishori group and the changes in her personality after joining the group. She also mentioned the achievement of their Kishori group in solving the problems of adolescent girls in near by area.

Ms Mann Devi (Member of Mahila Mandal) shared that through the collective effort of their women’s group they are successful in installing the hand pump in their Basti. Women’s of Mahila Mandal also presented the local folk on the issue of Dowry.
Girls enrolled under the Vidya-Gyan Scholarship programme last year shared their thoughts.

    • Ms Nazbunne (Class X) informed about the changes in views of her parents and neighbors after associating with this scholarship programme. She also informed that her parents bought bicycle and other accessories for her from the scholarship amount.

    • Ms Afsaree also shared the changes in her life after associating with this scholarship programme. She has thanked SSK and RGF for providing six month Computer education programme. She informed that she has a interest in computer and she will learn other courses of computer with her scholarship amount.

    • Similarly Ms Soni and Ms….also shared their experiences. The way in which girls presented themselves is self-explanatory about the confidence and changes in their personality.

    • In the open session, Ms Shanaze Begam. (Guardian) shared her views. She informed that her four girls were enrolled in this scholarship programme. She told that she regularly attend the Guardian meeting organized by SSK and enquire about the progress of her girl child. She also appealed other mothers for educating their girl child.


All the Pradans and their representatives present in the programme appealed the mass for educating their girl child and at the same they also promises that they also provide as much as support in promotion of girl child education.


Draft distribution to all 138 Selected girls was done by honorable guests on the dais. All the selected girls came with their parents and collect the draft of Rs 3000. After the draft Distribution Mr Sudhir had requested the parents to use this money for the educational purpose of their girl child. The programme was formally ended with vote of thanks given by Mr Sudhir.
