Panchayat Rath
 From
20th May 2008 Sahbhagi Shikhan Kendra, mirzapur started a Panchayat
Jaagrukta abhiyan 2008, one kind of awareness campaign in the
Gram Panchayats of City block. This abhiyan was for one week.
We covered 10 G.P intensively and some other GP of extensive area.
During this abhiyan informations are being disseminated through
handbills, audio cassette and face to face interaction on several
issues like NREGA, Gram Panchayat, RTI and NRHM. The handbills
have been in very simple language so that people can understand
the messages very clearly. These handbills are providing in-depth
and important informations for example in NREGA minimum wages,
how to demand for
work, what kind of work can be done under NREGA, what facilities
should be provided at work sites, in RTI how to file it .what
type of information we can demand. What NRHM says? We are going
to Gram Panchayat and meeting with all electative representatives
as well as the Gram Sabha members and tell them about our objective
behind this abhiyan. On the other hand we have prepared one format
for this abhiyan which include questions like what is the major
problem of their hamlet, etc. And is this abhiyan is helpful in
solving out that problem. Community People are liking these efforts
and providing their full support.
As
everybody knows Sahbhagi shikhan Kendra works for promoting self
governance where information is the most crucial thing so this
Panchayat Rath takes us one step ahead to our mission. Panchayat
Rath is one of the prominent methods of Information dissemination in
the village which has the capability of attracting huge crowd. On
Panchayat rath Bhojpuri songs related with role of gram Panchayat
samitis, importance of women’s, dalit and marginalized participation
in gram sabha meetings etc are being played.
The motto
of this abhiyan is not only providing information but also to enable
and capacitate people to raise voices for their rights. People
listen to us very carefully and ask various questions on related
issues.
