Major activities under the project “Mobilizing Citizen Leaders
for Strengthening PRIs”

Citizen Leaders federation have
been formed in the districts of Sitapur and Mirzapur. The
federation has evolved as a local resource group and efforts are
required to further strengthen the federation in order to ensure
the sustainability of the federation.

A block level workshop on
National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was held in Khairabad on 7
September 2007. The Pradhan, Auxiliary Nurses Mid-wife,
Aaganwadi Workers and Citizen Leaders participated in the
workshop. Two block level officials along with the Village
Development Officer (VDO) participated in the workshop. The
purpose of the workshop was to sensitize people on NRHM. The
plight of the villagers owing to the absence of health
facilities in the villages was focused in the workshop. The VDO
expressed the need to work in collaboration with the villagers
on the issue in larger interest of the village community.

A Block level workshop for
experience sharing on National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme
and Right to Information Act was organized on 20th September
2007 in Mirzapur. The aim of the workshop was to share the
findings of the short study conducted in 10 Gram Panchayats of
City Block of Mirzapur district. The success and failures of the
Scheme were highlighted during the workshop.
