Training on Communication for behavior change

Duration: Three days (Residential) (16th March to 18th March 2010)

Expected Outcome

Many development programs fail because the message is not communicated in a proper manner and consequently not motivating the members of target audience, as a result of which people do not subscribe to the intended behavior change. Bringing behavior change is subject to change in behavior of self, skill of facilitator, environment building etc. possession of which can be brought about by trainings, knowledge/awareness building and gaining experiences. Behavior change is expected for effective participation, functioning, decision making and bringing positive change in organizational context as well as facilitating induce the same in all levels of society.Communication for behavior change often involves reaching out to marginalized populations whose needs and behaviors are different from those of the rest of the community. Training on behavior change would help in a process of working with individuals, communities and societies. It would also help develop communication strategies to promote positive behaviors which are appropriate to their settings; and provide a supportive environment which will enable people to initiate and sustain positive behaviors.

In order to achieve the above outcomes the following contents will be dealt with during the training programme:

  • Community participation for behavior change and group building
  • Understanding on Self , Personality and Theories of personality
  • Role of Communication in behavior change
  • Understanding various types of communication and strategy for behavior change
  • Conducting analysis of behavioral aspects of change
  • Participatory behavior change strategy
The aim of the training program is to enhance the communication skill, knowledge, awareness which would facilitate behavior change in self and enable them bring behavior change at community and society level. Middle and field level functionaries can participate in the training program

Methodology
  • The training program shall be conducted in a participatory manner, in which participants are involved in mutual learning and sharing process.
  • The sessions are made highly interactive so that no stone is left unturned in imparting the concepts and principles of communication for behavior change.
  • Emphasis is placed on interactive way of learning such as small group discussion, case study, role-plays, simulations, video reviews, etc.
  • Learning games and energizers are used to facilitate conducive environment for learning.

Language

 

The training shall be imparted in Hindi. However, technical terms may be dealt in English. Seats : 24

Course Fee

 

The fee for the training program is Rs. 3000 per person that includes tuition fee, cost of learning materials, staying and food charges, and other training expenses. Fee can be paid through Cheque/ Demand draft in favor of “Sahbhagi Shikshan Trust” payable at Lucknow.

  • SSK reserves the right to reject any application, in that case course fee shall be duly refunded.
