The Challenge
Indianeeds utmost attention to eliminate the socio-economic inequalities that have been prevailing since years. The constitution of India has an explicit mention of the social security and states that India is a welfare state, which means, all the vulnerable section must be taken care of by the government for their basic amenities. According to the budget estimates from 2020 of Government of India, 1600000 lakh crore (220 billion USD) has been allocated to provide various social security’s such as financial inclusion, meal for children, rural job guarantee, various pension funds and so on.
The Opportunity
The social security cover includes health care benefits for informal workers, ration cards, pensions, maternity benefits, Job guarantee for certain number of days, subsidies for fertilizers etc. are some of the broad areas that government is working to uplift these sections. Yet, the percolation of thesesocial security schemes have been an area of concern. This was realized majorly after COVID-19 struck the face of the country and uprooted lives and livelihoods of millions.
The Outcome
Under HRDP, SSK realized the importance of social security schemes and therefore established a Mobile Village Resource Center (MVRC) / GrameenSandarbh Kendra. A village youth was trained to undertake mobile camps in each of the ten villages every month and spread awareness regarding various schemes applicable to villagers. He also assisted them to process their applications and stay connected until the benefit was availed. The MVRCgot famous given the transparent and timely delivery of government & other e-Services at affordable cost by saving time and effort.
Since it started it 2021, it has reached thousands of people, provided direct benefit to 2181 individuals of which 69% registered for schemes providing monetary benefit such as Ayushman Card, E-shram Card, Old Age Pension, PM Kisan, Widow Pension, Labour Card, Labour Card Renewal, Divyang Pension and so on. Others mostly reached out to the center for services like Aadhar Correction, Caste Certificate, Domicile, Income Certificate, PAN Card , Ration card and such.
